About History Teachers' Association of NSW

The History Teachers' Association of NSW (HTANSW) seeks to promote the study and teaching of History and to provide professional support for those working in the area of History Education. Formed in 1954 by Renée Fauvette Erdos (1911-1997), HTANSW grew quickly, evolving our operations to reflect changes in pedagogy, teaching and learning and the use of technology. A proud volunteer organisation, HTANSW’s Board of Directors and dedicated employees engage in a variety of activities to support the discipline of History, its teachers and their students including: - Providing face-to-face and online professional development opportunities for History Teachers - Sharing articles, reviews and teaching and learning activities via our journal, Teaching History - Developing publications, videos and podcasts designed to support students and teachers of History - Organising competitions for History students and sponsoring an annual NSW Premier’s Teacher Scholarship - Consulting with government bodies, schools, universities and cultural institutions to support the discipline of History - Advocating on behalf of students and teachers of History in NSW and supporting them through the implementation of new curricula For more information on HTANSW, visit our website or find us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
