About HLN Consulting

Founded in 1997, HLN Consulting, LLC brings together an academic heritage and technology perspective in a collaborative approach to health information technology. Our mission is to enhance and support the capabilities of public health organizations and healthcare providers by providing high quality consulting services, strategic planning, software development including open source solutions, and software hosted as a service. We envision a world in which public health and healthcare organizations share and use open source technology platforms to achieve high performing and sustainable solutions for improving the health and well being of patients and populations. We Develop and maintain new or existing systems, manage a process to ensure a successful roll-out of the new systems, and devise innovative strategies to solve organizational challenges. HLN promotes the exchange of ideas and innovation through writing and speaking, contributions to open source projects, and activities in professional associations and the broader healthcare community. Leveraging these activities, we help our clients implement the most appropriate solutions to deliver performance, transparency, and sustainability, especially in the areas of clinical decision support, health information exchange, and public health informatics. We engage with our clients to support strategic planning efforts, to conduct research on health IT trends and developments or to work with national experts on developing standards. For our state, local, territorial, and tribal partners, we are often engaged to evaluate existing technology, develop new software solutions, or advise on the application of Federal or state policy for IT. Clients often contract for our services through their not-for-profit partners, and HLN provides flexible and nimble contracting support for these arrangements.
