About Hnutí Brontosaurus
More than 40 years Brontosaurus attracts mainly students of high-schools and universities and opens them a way to explore both natural and cultural heritage of our country and their own personality. Our action lies in organising several events: they are summer camps and spring/autumn weekends consisted of volunteer work for the nature or cultural monuments and experiential programme of games, workshops, happenings, art etc. Brontosaurus connects "pleasant" and "useful" together: during the volunteer work on the castles, protected areas or organic farms young people have a chance to meet new friends, discuss important topics and find their role in a group. They can learn how to scythe a meadow, treat an old fruit tree, cook lunch for 20 people or make a wicker basket... We have more than a thousand members in 30 regional branches all over Czech Republic. However, there are much more young people passing every year through our camps and weekends, as our events are wide open and not limited with membership. In our central office in Brno we run several additional programmes of environmental education, eco-counselling, children clubs and volunteers' free-time centre.
