About Hogar de Esperanza
Hogar de Esperanza means House of Hope. And that is what we are. A home of hope, passion, and motivation to create real changes for young girls. In Colombia, 1 out 5 teenage girls give birth to a child and thousands of pre-teens get pregnant every year. These pregnancies cause devastating limitations for the girls’ development opportunities as they never finish a formal education which makes them vulnerable to poverty, violence, and social stigma. Our team of Danish-Colombian professionals fights with solidarity to break the brutal vicious circle of economic and social injustice. We are a team of globally conscious and responsible human beings who believe, that no one should be left behind. Hogar de Esperanza exists today to empower girls to be recognized as equals and to prevent unwanted pregnancies to ensure that girls stay in school so that they can get an education and become agents of their own lives. Girls simply must decide over their own bodies and have control over their own fertility.
