About Home Language

We work at the intersection of the built environment and social, health and housing services, supporting organisations and design teams to centre cultural knowledge and lived experiences in design projects. We see and understand the world as a highly connected web of interacting threads or complex systems; no one person, community or project exists in isolation, and no two projects and contexts are the same. At Home Language, we focus on: • moving gently, at the speed required for the folks we work with and the project itself. • creating spaces for knowledge sharing and collective learning. • developing project-specific, grounded understandings, and responsive and inclusive ways to move forward. We also understand that it’s often easier to communicate complexity in themes or categories. Therefore, our work generally falls into five categories: • Strategic advice and project planning • Co-Design and engagement • Research and sense-making • Coaching and practice supervision • Learning experiences and capacity building There are many connected aspects of our work, and the lines between categories can be fuzzy.
