About Home-Start, Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre

Our Vision: Home-Start wants to see a society in which every parent has the support they need to give their children the best possible start in life. We all need support and friendship sometimes. If a family is going through tough times our volunteers are there to help. What we do: We provide one-to-one support for parents. We recognise that often the best way to help children is to support their parents, helping them give their children the best possible start in life, and our trained volunteers are there to give that encouragement and support Parents helping Parents, it's simple and it works! Our volunteers visit the family's home for a couple of hours every week. They tailor-make their support to the needs of each individual family. Volunteers are very committed and will visit until the parents feel they can stand on their own two feet. Parents and volunteers often develop a deeply trusting relationship which can lead to powerful change within the family, and the fruits of that support can be seen in improved health and well-being and better family relationships. We also run family groups and social events so, as families enjoy themselves, they also help each other grow and broaden their relationships.
