Homebody Psychotherapy emerged as a response to the profound disconnection many feel from their bodies—an unraveling caused by centuries of systemic oppression, trauma, and shame-based socialization. For queer, BIPOC individuals, and those with intersecting identities historically marginalized and dehumanized, this disconnection runs deep. They’ve been forced to exist within a framework that diminishes their humanity, imposing a status quo designed to disempower. This reality, marked by the erasure of selfhood and identity, underscores the urgency of reestablishing a relationship to the body—a reclamation of personal power, dignity, and wholeness. This journey of healing is not just individual but collective, challenging systems that attempt to sever us from our bodies and our truth. Homebody Psychotherapy, born out of passion and purpose, is founded on the belief that every person has an inherent right to return ‘home’ to themselves. This journey of reclamation demands that our therapists and healers do more than simply understand; we must actively challenge and dismantle the harmful social narratives and constructs that perpetuate exploitation, division, and confinement. Our work is a commitment to confronting these systems, creating a sanctuary where individuals, particularly those marginalized, can rediscover their agency, wholeness, and humanity. Serving as a symbol of innovation, curiosity, and spaciousness, Homebody Psychotherapy incorporates theory and application from radical social justice frameworks and anti-colonial therapeutic practice. We are uniquely interested in the intersection of sex therapy, internal family systems therapy (IFS), anti-colonial care, and multicultural interior design & supportive space cultivation. While yes, Homebody Psychotherapy invites anyone needing support to reach out to us for care, our practice is explicitly and intentionally catered towards empowering those from historically marginalized communities.
