About HOPE Mentoring
Many youth who have experience in juvenile correctional facilities return to their communities without the essential social and career skills that are needed to get hired and hold a job. We believe (and the research supports) that youth who are positively engaged in their communities, especially through employment, are less likely to be re-incarcerated. Importantly, though, these youth need support in learning the necessary skills to obtain and maintain employment. Our mission is to help youth make connections with people in their community and become positively engaged in order to decrease their chances of re-incarceration. Through weekly mentoring sessions and HOPE facility-wide workshops, HOPE mentors help youth explore career options available to them and develop hard and soft skills needed to be successful.
