About Horizons Hampton Roads, Inc

Horizons Hampton Roads provides an academic, cultural and recreational enrichment program designed to encourage students to realize their full potential. Working in partnership with families, schools and communities, Horizons is committed to the development of the whole child through experiences that build problem-solving skills, foster awareness of community responsibility, and encourage life-long interest in learning. Horizons Hampton Roads is a 501(c)(3) that has been serving youth since 1999. The program follows the award-winning Horizons National model by offering an effective six-week educational enrichment program to children in grades K-8 from under-resourced communities. Children thrive in high quality, enriching environments where engaging learning opportunities foster their potential. Our community-centered approach is proven to help close the opportunity gap for children and put them on a path to success in school and in life. Horizons students who return each summer have been shown to have significantly higher rates of on time graduation and advancement to post-secondary education. Our program continues to support students into high school with career exploration and linkage to opportunities for attending college or other advanced training. Horizons Hampton Roads is a local affiliate of Horizons National, with more than 70 sites across the US.
