About Hospice Help Foundation
Hospice Help Foundation improves the comfort and quality of life for hospice patients and their families by providing urgent financial relief. Our support transcends the usual scope of hospice care by providing assistance for services not covered by Medicare, Medicaid, or private insurance. Some of the ways the Foundation helps patients and families include: - Paying essentials including rent, utilities, and food bills so patients can spend their final days in the comfort of their homes - Providing basic necessities such as eyeglasses, dentures, and clothing to enhance dignity at end-of-life - Covering transportation costs to bring families together at a critical time - Assisting with funeral costs for indigent patients, so that a dignified burial is possible - Granting last wishes, such as a trip to a major league baseball game, a last trip to the beach, and help with veterinary bills for beloved pets - Providing ramps, wheelchairs, and chairlifts, so that patients can remain independent and mobile for as long as possible For every patient served, HHF calculates that there are at least an additional four people directly impacted by the organization’s financial support, including family members, caregivers, and the members of the hospice team who care for patients. One social worker told us: "I can't tell you how grateful my patient was that Hospice Help Foundation was able to pay the rent for him and his wife. It was useful, tangible support when otherwise, all he was getting was bad news. It took a real financial burden off the couple and allowed them to focus on each other, their relationship, and her care. It also provided the opening needed for our hospice agency to bond with the couple. It was the first tangible evidence that we could help and was so important for them to build trust in our services."
