About House Orastafell

House Orastafell was established by Nathanael Despain on the UNCA campus in 2015. Since then its membership has grown with the aid of newly appointed leadership and the vigorous training and dedication of its members! It is more that just a martial arts and combat group. Orastafell also embraces a rich acknowledgement of history and the arts. Dress and armor (not live steel weaponry) available during the Viking ages, crafts and culture of the time are encouraged and accepted as long as they are safe. We hope that in time we will grow to other areas and be able to have events off site of the UNCA campus. Members are encouraged to bring their knowledge and abilities to the table while being open to learning more! Orastafell focuses on the development of the mind, spirit and skill of its members. We are like-minded people that enjoy the spirit of the martial arts with a focus on the way of the sword in its varied forms. We welcome newcomers with open arms both the fresh to the arts as well as seasoned combatants. It is a place where we all shed our ego and come together as a unit, new and old alike.
