HSM Aero is the formal merger of Hermitage Sheet Metal and Specialist Aviation Manufacturing and creates a new precision component engineering business. Specialist Aviation Manufacturing (formerly Bowman & Sanderson) was formed in 1955. The company offers sub-contract machining of components placing particular emphasis on Quality, Capability, Experience, Reliability and On-Time Delivery. Hermitage Sheet Metal was founded in 1965 on the principle of always producing work to an excellent standard. In January 2014 Hermitage Sheet Metal joined the SA Group of companies and, whilst continuing to trade separately under their individual identities, together they provide an industry-leading manufacturing practice through innovative initiatives intended to increase quality and performance for all customers. 2015 saw the merger of the two companies take place. In 2018, HSM Aero acquired the Bristol division assets of City Engineering Systems (Bristol) Ltd from the official Administrators, Jones, Giles and Clay. The Bristol business, a state-of-the-art precision engineering company specialising in quality sheet metal work and fabrication in stainless steel, aluminium and mild steel will now trade as HSM Aero Ltd and referenced as HSM Aero Ltd (Bristol Division). HSM Aero are now utilising all the skills and equipment to continue to support and grow the long-standing customer base and integrate HSM Aero’s Aerospace and Defence customers.
