About Hugh Metheny

I attribute being number one in my careers as a top rated disk jockey, news director, radio sales person, television production specialist/director/editor, script writer, creative program developer, and ad agency owner to my parents who were my educators. They believed in self-reliance, discipline, accountability, hard work, and multitasking. Both were writers, photographers, teachers, public servants, social workers, and marketing experts. The sound of a clacking typewriter, the whirl of a 16mm movie camera, a clicking mimeograph printer, dramatic radio programs, sales presentations, and public speaking were my backgrounds as well as subliminal training. My father was a club owner turned super sales executive who was a number one insurance sales executive for the entire country. In my parents spare time, they helped friends in retail, food distribution, and billiard parlors achieve their goals and later in life helped needy coal miners, tenant farmers, and hill folks survive their circumstances through local churches in Kentucky, Tennessee, and Indiana. My parents insisted I work as a child delivering newspapers, farming, and as a stonemason helper. I was expected and did worked my way through collage as a local DJ, Recording Studio Assistant, Ad Agency Writer/Producer, and Campus Radio Manager. President John Kennedy inspired me to be a US Army Veteran. I am currently writing a TV Series … more to come. Stay tuned.
