About HUMANE asbl

HUMANE, the Heads of University Management & Administration Network in Europe is an international association whose aims are to build global networks, to foster innovation in higher education services and to drive professional excellence in higher education management. Uniquely, HUMANE supports both the professional development of current executive leaders within the HE sector as well as organisational development through the provision of programmes to promising senior staff. HUMANE is a non profit association registered in Belgium with the Secretariat based in Brussels. Our President is Paul Greatrix, Registrar, University of Nottingham. Our activities include: Seminars and an Annual Conference - one of the main activities of the network is the two day seminars organised for members two times a year. These bring together speakers both from inside and outside on important issues of the day. The Annual Conference is a bigger event open to HE professionals. Residential Schools: The Winter, Summer and Transnational Partnership Schools are week long intensive training courses for up and coming senior administrators. Started in 2003, it has become the benchmark programme to develop the leadership potential of outstanding administrators. HUMANE also looks after the alumni of the Residential Schools with the Professional Pathways Programme - further training courses on specific themes. Study Visits - taking small groups from universities to a host university that is recognised as being a leader in a specific area and immersing the group in that expertise. The goal is to move beyond a mere exchange programme, encouraging effective transfer of knowledge and experiences.
