Humans Like Us connects people who lend support to refugees in their working life in Australia. We are building a community of like-minded HR, D&I, CSR and recruitment practitioners to work together to develop and share best practice and innovative approaches through cross-sector collaboration. For example, did you know that refugees are twice as likely to become entrepreneurs as other taxpayers? Successfully integrating new arrivals into the workforce – as employees or small business owners – speeds up social cohesion and pays dividends for our economy. Refugees are highly motivated to build a new life – to find a job and work hard. But many of them encounter structural obstacles to finding work, particularly work that matches their skills and experience. Hundreds of employers and community organisations around Australia are doing their part to help refugees succeed in their quest to find and keep a job, and create a secure future for their families. Some are involved in refugee employment programs in their companies, others teach job seekers how to write their resumes and search for a job. Working together, sharing ideas, we can make our society more inclusive and caring.
