Humpback Hydro is the name of patented technology that was a Top 3 finalist in the "Excellence in Emerging Technology" category at the 2014 GLOBE Series Awards for Environmental Excellence. Invented by Mark Legacy, from Vancouver, British Columbia, to provide a viable, cost effective, long term solution to the Energy~Water Nexus. What is it? Two independent expert research teams at Canada’s esteemed University of British Columbia have confirmed the capacity of Humpback Hydro Energy's award winning patented analog electricity production and storage design. It is a stand alone concrete and steel structure that utilizes pump storage hydro to store energy by using the ocean, lake or river as the existing reservoir. This large “water battery”contains massive amounts of energy, renewable or otherwise, with no loss.
