About Hunter Classical Christian School
We are a private classical, non-denominational Christian K-8 school located in the greater Richmond, VA area. We know your most important investment is the heart and mind of your child. Our mission is one of service for the glory of God and the health of the family, with your child being our highest priority. We are excited to introduce you to sound, classical learning methods guided by Judeo-Christian principles. Students are encouraged to delight in seeking out new information, and to strive to find the good, the beautiful and the true, developing confident, faith-filled leaders that act with moral integrity and possess strong intellectual foundations for a lifetime of growth. Here at Hunter, we aim to teach students how to think, not just what to think. We begin with the end in mind, pursuing excellence in academics and life, with a heart to serve the Lord and others. Our vision calls for a partnership between the school and the family, with shared mutual values resulting in solid character development for the child and a strengthening of the whole family. We embrace the Classical ideal of the educational trivium in order to help your child become a life-long learner. Children progress through the three stages of the trivium – grammar, logic, and rhetoric – to become thoughtful and capable individuals prepared to take on the challenges of their world. To this end, we are fortunate to have caring teachers, who exemplify the love of Christ, as they harness the energies of each child through their own enthusiasm. And though we have high expectations, we understand a child's boundless energy, and encourage outdoor exploration with both teacher-led learning and twice daily cooperative play on the historic acreage of Dover Church, set at the edge of a protected fringe of forest.
