About Hunter Writers' Centre
Founded in 1998, Hunter Writers' Centre is a non-profit charitable organisation serving the writers, stories and storytellers of the Hunter region. We are home to Lighthouse Arts, Newcastle Poetry Prize, Newcastle Short Story Award, and the Grieve Project. With a core focus on writing and storytelling, our programs include writers and artists residencies, fellowships, exhibitions, workshops, events, and storytelling projects that strengthen the diverse voices of the region. VISION: We envision a future where writing and storytelling thrives as a vital form of cultural and self-expression, strengthened by partnerships, grounded in craft, empowered by technology, and told by a diverse, inclusive community.
