About Huntsville Housing Authority
Huntsville Housing Authority’s mission is to develop and preserve a high standard of safe, affordable housing for qualifying individuals and families, free from discrimination. HHA believes housing is a basic need and the foundation for a successful life. HHA’s dedicated staff, along with community partners, will promote neighborhood revitalization, self-sufficiency, and assist our families in achieving long-term economic success and a sustained high quality of life. Huntsville Housing Authority (HHA) administers federal subsidies that support almost 3,000 units of public and other assisted housing. We also work with builders, developers, lenders and private housing providers to expand affordable housing opportunities in Madison County. We support self-sufficiency and offer resources for current and aspiring homeowners. We also administer federal funding programs including the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), the HOME Investment Partnership (HOME) Grant, the Emergency Shelter Grant (ESG), and the Neighborhood Stabilization Grant programs, designed to develop viable urban communities by providing decent housing and a suitable living environment and by expanding economic opportunities, principally for low and moderate-income households. We are primarily responsible for developing affordable housing, to include the oversight of the Documentary Stamp Surtax (Surtax) and State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) funds for affordable housing development.
