About Hypersomnolence Australia

Hypersomnolence Australia (HA) is dedicated to improving outcomes for people living with central disorders of hypersomnolence (CDoH), including Idiopathic Hypersomnia (IH) and Narcolepsy. Our primary purpose is to support the medical community by advancing understanding of these conditions, improving access to effective treatments, and driving the identification of biomarkers that could lead to more accurate diagnostics and, ultimately, a cure. We also advocate strongly for people with IH and Narcolepsy by raising awareness, educating the wider community, and promoting better post-diagnosis care and services. HA is the founder and global host of the annual Idiopathic Hypersomnia Awareness Week (IHAW), held 1–7 June. Since launching IHAW in 2013, we have united the IH community across 15 countries, empowering individuals to share their stories and amplify their voices. Through collaborative global efforts, including awareness resources translated into 13 languages, we aim to accelerate diagnosis, advance research, and reduce stigma.
