Based in Halfmoon Bay, British Columbia, on the beautiful paddling paradise of the sunshine coast, we are two avid paddling brothers bringing to Canada high performance boards designed by life long avid paddlers in Hawaii. Ian and Lauren Foo cofounded HYPR Hawaii in 2003 and have been refining their board design since then, steadily improving the design and build quality of their boards. Lifelong ocean watermen and women, they are as passionate about paddling as they are meticulous about build quality and design detail. The essential feature of HYPR Hawaii boards and the key to their speed, performance and handling is the patented hull design. The HYPR board has a unique 10mm deep double concave hull which increases lift, improves tracking, and makes these boards extraordinarily fast for their width. This advanced hydrodynamic design channels the water flow over the fins, giving a smoother, faster and more stable glide. After the first few strokes of the paddle, the three upward sloping chines move the lateral waterline inward to lift the board effortlessly, and reduces the overall width of the board being pushed through the water. Simply put, reduced resistance equals speed. In addition to their unique design, the boards are unequaled in strength and build quality; individually hand made with full length wood stringers and end blocks, they are triple vacuum bagged and wrapped in thick wood veneers and carbon fibre using military grade S glass.
