iamvisABLE is a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Organization that aims to utilize storytelling as a tool to connect, support, and empower individuals living with an invisible, chronic illness. It is estimated that 96% of the nearly 157 million Americans living with a chronic illness suffer from a condition that is invisible. Many individuals within society are not well educated on such conditions that impact people on a daily basis. This lack of understanding inevitably contributes to feelings of isolation and hopelessness for those suffering from chronic conditions; therefore, by providing a safe space for people to share their experiences, iamvisABLE aims to amplify voices and foster a more inclusive and informed society, where every individual’s story is valued and heard. Vision - Through shared narratives, we aim to amplify voices and foster a more inclusive and informed society, where every individual’s story is valued and heard. Values Community We recognize the value in community and its ability to foster a sense of belonging, support, and understanding amongst those living with an invisible, chronic illness. Connection We believe in the value of creating meaningful connections to decrease feelings of isolation and provide opportunities to support and empower each other. Education We value the role of education and its ability to increase understanding and advocacy efforts, reduce stigma, and improve healthcare interactions. Empathy We value the experiences and feelings of all individuals and strive to create a safe space filled with both empathy and respect.
