About IbexMind

IbexMind is a collaboration between Dr David Dean, a consultant clinical neuropsychologist, and Peter King, a consultant on extremist media. It offers innovative solutions to teams looking to build their resilience and mitigate the effects of regular exposure to potentially distressing media content. We have developed a package of interventions, with an emphasis on prevention, specifically designed to help protect teams exposed to such content and demonstrate their employer's ongoing commitment to their mental health. We provide workshops and facilitated, ongoing support sessions for teams. Our evidence-based approach enables employees to build on their resilience and manage the potential risks of viewing distressing media content in a healthy way. We also offer consultancy to organisations and managers on measures that can be taken to enhance support for employees working in this field. Our approach draws on established psychological models including cognitive-behavioural and compassion-focused approaches. It also includes a neuroscientific understanding of how the brain processes traumatic material and how to counteract any harmful effects. Bespoke packages are delivered by a clinical psychologist (Dr David Dean) who has substantial experience in training and supporting people to build and maintain resilience, and a subject matter expert (Peter King) who has 15 years' experience tracking the media output produced by jihadist groups and their supporters. This unique combination enables IbexMind to deliver an evidence-based psychological training package tailored to the specific work contexts of people dealing with distressing material online.
