About Idaho Latino Scholarship Foundation

The Idaho Latino Scholarship Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, created to enhance the education level and develop community leaders within Idaho’s Latino community. Our primary goal is to provide scholarships, which enable more Latino students to attend college and to provide a support system for them, while they are in college to ensure they are able to complete their degree. ILSF awards academic scholarships of up to $5,000 per student attending a post-secondary school in Idaho. The award is for academic excellence, demonstrated leadership in school, community service activities and economic need. Additionally, our goal is to provide a mentor to each student, to support them while they are in college and to help them successfully complete their degree. Mentors are often former recipients of the ILSF scholarship. The ILSF began in 2008 with a generous donation from Zions Bank. The Foundation was created by the Idaho Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, as a means to raise scholarships for Latino students. In the first year, four $5,000 scholarships were awarded. In each of the next four years, one $5,000 scholarship was awarded to a Latino student. In 2013 the first annual ILSF Gala was held and raised $30,000 for scholarships. Eleven students received scholarships in 2013 ranging from $1,000 to $5,000. In 2013, the ILSF added the Hispanic Youth Symposium as a program of the Foundation. Leaders of the Symposium were added to the board of ILSF and planning for the event was under way. Mission: To promote the success of Latino families by providing scholarships for Latino students to attend college and through supporting programs that increase the number Latino students qualified and motivated to achieve a college degree.
