About iGEM_UUlm
The international Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) contest, that has been taking place yearly since 2003. It is the biggest student contest in the field of synthetic biology worldwide. Synthetic biology is on the bleeding edge of biotechnology, chemistry, electronics and information technology. The goal is to design molecules, whole cells or even systems to work as biological machines. In contrast to classical biology the product is a highly specialized biological system that works strictly in a way that the designer intended. We are the 2020 founded University group iGEM_UUlm. Last year we took part in the competition and achieved a bronze medal. Our interdisciplinary Team of consisting of 12 Master and Bachelor students from the courses Biochemistry, molecular medicine, psychology and sustainable business management is continuing the work on the very promising project from last year.
