About Illinois Sports Science Institute (ISSI)
The Illinois Sports Science Institute (ISSI) is a comprehensive medical, sports science, and academic-based program developed for youth athletes (age 12-18 years) by Steven Boas, MD, a leading Sports Pulmonologist and Professor of Pediatrics at Northwestern University. In addition to Dr. Boas and his hands-on approach to each athlete, the program is also administered by his staff of nurse practitioners, clinical specialists, and exercise physiologists. Over his long history in the space, Dr. Boas and his practice have treated thousands of high school, collegiate and professional athletes in their cutting-edge human performance lab in Northfield, IL For the first time, all of this has been put together in a comprehensive program to assist athletes in piecing together the puzzle that is their individual athletic profile, in order to maximize performance. The individualized 6-month/12-module program is a combination of medical assessments, sports performance testing, and educational tutorials. The output of the program is a unique “Sports Phys Analytics” blueprint for the athlete. With over 2,000 data points generated, the athlete will know more about their athletic performance/profile/potential than ever before. A limited number of athletes will be selected to participate in the program, beginning in April of 2024, through an initial, in-office consultation and application process.
