I am a digital artist and painter working in the software medium Adobe Illustrator. The beauty of drawing with digital software is that it can be scaled to any size without loss of quality and retains the image exactly as you have drawn it on screen - this is because the image is drawn by vectors - a sequence of commands or mathematical statements running in the background of the software. You still require to have the skill of an artist - the screen is your canvas and the mouse is your pencil or brush. The software provides the colour pallette. Mixing colours can sometimes be even more difficult to acheive than if you were using oils or acrylics. And it can take many hours of work to accomplish a complex drawing. For the last 17 years I have been drawing with Adobe Illustrator - working with geologists creating diagrams to help depict oil and gas reservoirs.
