About Immunisation Foundation of Australia
"Supporting Immunisation, Saving Lives" The Immunisation Foundation of Australia (IFA) is a prominent not-for-profit organisation and patient advocacy group dedicated to promoting immunisation and supporting immunisation initiatives throughout Australia. Our organisation is comprised of families who have been affected by vaccine-preventable diseases, and is led by co-founder & executive director Catherine Hughes AM, who lost her son to whooping cough in 2015. At IFA, we believe that immunisation is a crucial component of public health, and we are committed to advocating for policies and programs that promote vaccine access and uptake. We work closely with consumers, community organisations, health professionals and government agencies to develop and implement evidence-based strategies that address the barriers to immunisation and promote vaccine uptake. Our programs and initiatives focus on increasing awareness and understanding of the importance of immunisation, using human stories to shine a light on the dangers of vaccine-preventable diseases. One example of this is our award-winning "Light for Riley" campaign, which has resulted in Australia reporting some of the world's highest rates of maternal vaccination. We work to ensure that the voices of those affected by these diseases are heard, and we advocate for policies and programmes that address the needs of patients and families. With the support of our wonderful network of volunteers, partners, and donors, we are focused on building strong partnerships with key stakeholders, expanding our programmes and initiatives, and advocating for policies that support immunisation. We also work to increase public awareness and understanding of the importance of immunisation, and we will continue to support research and innovation in the field of immunisation.
