About Inaba Foods

Our company has a 160 year history, starting in the 1830s in Shizuoka Prefecture, which is located in the central part of Japan, as a manufacturing and sales company of "dried skipjacks" made from skipjack that were caught in the seas close to Japan. From 1900 onward, in addition to the production of dried skipjacks, we were engaged in the collection, box-packing, and nationwide sales of raw mandarin oranges that were locally cultivated, as well as export of oranges to Canada. In 1936, we constructed a canning factory in a place in which a freezing facility for skipjacks was scheduled to be constructed, after considering that it was close to the Port of Yaizu, which has the best catches of fish in Japan, and made our start as a manufacturing company of canned marine and agricultural products. After World War II, we made a new start as a stock corporation in 1948. Building on our seafood harvesting heritage, Inaba Foods branched into the pet food business in 1958. In 1989, the Ciao brand was born. Ciao is the most popular brand of premium canned cat dinners and treats in Japan! Our new slogan is “Delighting cats around the world”. https://www.inabafoods.com/
