Independent Insurance Surveys was established in 1988 as a partnership and has been trading as a limited company since 1997. We are property and liability (also known as casualty) risk management surveyors. We act for insurers (companies and Lloyd’s syndicates), underwriting agencies, wholesale brokers, retail brokers and policyholders. We are able to carry out risk management surveys across the whole of the UK, Isle of Man, Channel Islands, Republic of Ireland and continental Europe. Independent Insurance Surveys is based in Chelmsford, near London. Our network of risk management surveyors are based across the UK. How insurers, underwriting agencies, brokers and policyholders can all get the most out of the risk management process: We provide understanding of the risk providing the information required to enable the risk to be correctly rated and suitable terms applied. It also reduces the scope for argument if a loss occurs. We are a fresh pair of eyes. This might allow for unexpected risks to be discovered and dealt with. We can investigate specific underwriting concerns such as a lack of clear, key risk information; a poor claims history that requires investigation; and where there are specific geographical issues, for example pinpointing an exact location to enable accurate rating of flood risk. We can help to reduce the likelihood and severity of a loss saving money, disruption, fines, bad publicity and even prison. We can flag up breaches of policy conditions allowing opportunity to remedy or alter, or sometimes even to delete inappropriate policy conditions. We offer guidance on cover and sums insured: Enabling the policyholder to have the most suitable cover and/or identifying situations where the sums insured may be inaccurate.
