About Indian Institute of Logistics
In our country, for quality Engineering education we have world renowned IIT’s for Management Education we have IIM’s and why not an Institution for quality Logistics Education? Answer: Indian Institute of Logistics IIL is privileged to be a pioneer & forerunner in establishing the first “L” school (Logistics school) in India. Capt. V.J. Pushpa Kumar founder Director of IIL is a Master Mariner from Merchant Navy where, as a Captain he has sailed in various types of vessels including Bulk Carriers, General Cargo and Container Ships. He has worked his way to the top of the corporate ladder in many leading multinational shipping companies and has gained sound expertise in the insights of operations. While working in various organizations in the Industry, Captain quickly realized the need of Quality Human Resources in the Industry. India, being a country with a vast coast line dotted with 13 major ports and more than 200 non-major ports foresees an emerging & vibrant growth in the National International trade. The size of Logistics in India is about 185 billion dollars which is around 13 to 15% of the national GDP. With Government strongly pitching in for “Make in India” campaign which eventually propels our Industry growth to around 20%. To cater this demand, there is requirement of more quality & trained professionals. Thus, the importance and need for structured training on the logistics & shipping front was identified by Capt. V.J. Pushpa Kumar. IIL was established in the year 2007 with a single-minded focus to be the premier Logistics Institution thriving to on par with IIT’s & IIM’s offering quality practical and career oriented training programmes in Logistics & Shipping related areas and provide quality Human Resources to the ever-growing Industry at ZERO COST.
