IndustryWorks Pictures Inc. has the primary function of domestic theatrical releasing. Since not all productions are appropriate for theatrical release, the company’s acquisition and marketing strategy is critical. A significant amount of resources are spent to ensure the right movie is selected at the right time to maximize its box office potential. Evolution Pictures Inc. was established to produce quality films that appeal to niche and mainstream audiences on an international level. The company has several in-house projects in development on an ongoing basis, and produces one to two films a year, depending on the nature of the project. It also provides production services to external film companies wishing to produce their projects in Canada. The scope of services, both internal and external, includes all administrative functions of the production, from budgeting and scheduling to the preparation, filing and collection of tax credits. IndustryWorks Entertainment Inc. provides an avenue for in-house projects to be sold worldwide. The company also has a library of active titles which were acquired from external sources. Both in-house and external projects are distributed internationally to nearly 3,500 buyers, as well as to film networks such as Sony Pictures, the Weinstein Company, Lionsgate Films and Universal Pictures. The titles are also targeted to other ancillary media outlets, such as video on demand, airlines, internet and retail outlets.
