The infant formula industry has spent many years studying breast milk and knows the value of good nutrition for infants and the unique and unsurpassed benefits of breast milk. However, when a baby does not receive breast milk the only suitable and safe alternative is a scientifically developed infant formula product. INC represents the major manufacturers and marketers of infant formula and toddler milk drinks in Australia and New Zealand as well as local companies who are producing product for export. All members abide by a Code of Conduct. INC has strong relationships with key Australian and New Zealand government departments and agencies. It works in partnership with government to protect the Australian and New Zealand brands and to support the public health goals for the protection and promotion of breastfeeding and, when needed, infant formula as the only suitable alternative. INC also works with local and international regulators to advance infant nutrition. INC advocates to ensure that the regulatory environment includes the benefits provided by global research and the consideration of global trade and harmonisation with international food standards.
