About Inishowen Traditional Singers' Circle
Inishowen Traditional Singers’ Circle (ITSC) was established in 1988 as a voluntary community organisation dedicated to the preservation, documentation, development, and promotion of the living tradition of song in the Inishowen peninsula, County Donegal. We strive to keep traditional singing accessible, relevant, and alive for everyone. We carry out our work by organising regular opportunities throughout the year for people in our community, and visitors, to come together to sing and to learn about song. Our work includes organising and promoting events, archiving, developing online resources, publishing, and running & managing our organisation in line with good governance guidelines. Each March we host the longest running festival of traditional singing on the island of Ireland, a four day programme of formal and informal performances, lectures and tour. The festival takes place in the villages of Ballyliffin and Clonmany, Inishowen, Co. Donegal. Since inception ITSC has embraced multimedia archiving as a key pillar in song transmission. We continue to use digital and online resources as an integral part of our work, and this is an important area of expertise for us. 00 353 Our work relies heavily on a voluntary committee, and we receive support from a number of State agencies including An Chomhairle Ealaíon/Arts Council, Donegal County Council, the Heritage Council, and Éire Ildánach/Creative Ireland. We maintain relationships with individual singers, song organisations, and other kindred collectives across the island of Ireland, throughout Britain, and in the USA. During the period September to June, we host monthly public singing sessions
