The Blackfoot word for the Ammolite fossil is "Iniskim". Fittingly, Iniskim International Inc. is a young Alberta company that wants to share its passion and vision of Ammolite with the world. Ammolite is a truly unique gemstone for the uninitiated, formed over 71 million years through extreme pressure and mineralization of Ammonite fossils. These Ammonite shells underwent a unique fossilization process which resulted in the famous iridescent rainbow colours. One shell of a gem, an iridescent fossilized Ammonite, is so rare that it can only be found in the Bearpaw Formation of Alberta, Canada. Ammolite is both a fossil and a gemstone (CIBJO, the World Jewellery Confederation). Ammonite fossils are found worldwide, but gemstone-grade Ammolite only exists in Southern Alberta, Canada. The conditions produced the rare iridescent, multi-coloured stones. We are mesmerized by these exquisite beauties from the mine buried over 71 million years ago.
