Density Activated Recovery (DAR) Technology represents the first inflow control solution which operates independent of viscosity contrasts, local pressure, and flow rate; at the same time, it can operate at a low differential pressure. This is achieved with a system that only reacts to density contrasts and provides high-capacity flow as long as the water/oil or gas/oil fraction is below the operator defined closing criteria. Hence, it can be applied to efficiently limit water production, regardless of oil viscosity. It is insensitive to reservoir heterogeneity, allows unconstrained oil production from reservoir zones not affected by excessive water or gas break through, and improves lift and recovery rates. Application of DAR Technology can dramatically reduce GHG emissions by considerably reducing gas flaring, as well as produced water handling and re-injection over the life time of a field development.
