About Inspired Disability Awareness

Inspired Disability Awareness shares our unique knowledge and experience for disability issues to teach other people to become more aware of the challenges that disabled people have. The courses are aimed at people over the age of 16 who work or have contact with disabled people such as public sector, voluntary organisation and private companies. As the Director and Trainer, I believe that my passion for disability awareness has come from working for different disability charities and hearing about examples of socially unacceptable attitudes towards disabled people. I feel that there needs to be a lot more awareness and consideration for people with all disabilities. We are currently working with social providers to deliver "Tier 1 Oliver McGowan learning disability awareness", where we have been proactive in developing the course. The need for better training come in November 2019, when the Government published 'Right to be heard' its response to the consultation on proposals for introducing mandatory learning disability and autism training for health and social care staff.
