About Inst. of Biomedical Engineering, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences & Peking Union Medical College
The Institute of Biomedical Engineering (IBME) afflicted with the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (CAMS) & Peking Union Medial College (PUMC) is a national research institution located in the High-Tech Industrial Development Zone in Tianjin. With a main research focus on biomedical engineering, the IBME is teamed of more than 100 basic science and clinically-trained researchers, of whom 35 are of senior academic status. In addition to its research centre status, the IBME also offers opportunities for students to extend and enhance their knowledge. Currently, up to 70 postdoctoral candidates are undergoing their training at the IBME. The IBME consists of 10 research groups with a broad spectrum of research interests and expertise. It is actively engaged in international research activities and contributing towards the development of innovative methodologies, technologies and novel materials in biomedical engineering. In particular, biomedical materials and medical electronic engineering are listed as key developing areas of the IBME.
