About Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia
Created in 2001 in Barcelona, the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC) is a center for education, research, production and dissemination with the mission to teach in the present how to build the future habitat of our societies. IAAC takes talent to the next level providing its students with the necessary knowledge in architecture and design but also in new technologies, data analysis and management, biomaterials, robotics and more, to be able to face the multifaceted challenges of architecture tomorrow. Through a unique and unconventional approach of current construction models, IAAC has become through time a solid reference when speaking of smartly combining technology innovation and architectural design. The numerous projects developed within its innovation hubs - Fab Lab Barcelona, Valldaura Labs, Urban Science Lab and the Advanced Architecture Group – enable IAAC to rethink the role of technology as an enhancer of a more sustainable continuity for architecture. Inspired by the values of Barcelona, capital of innovation and design, IAAC is a real innovation hub where local high quality research is connected to an international network of excellence in the fields of technology, architecture and society.
