Founded by a health promotion scientist and a veteran hospitality industry executive, the Institute for Healthy Destination Accreditation (IHDA) was established as a non-profit organization devoted to improving the Healthy Guest Experience™ for business, leisure and group travelers. IHDA identifies and works with hotels and resorts that are committed to providing their customers with health and wellness-focused amenities, services, programs, facilities and personnel. Our Mission: The Institute for Healthy Destination Accreditation is committed to serving the hospitality industry as a resource for the evaluation and certification of a destination's health-focused programs, services, amenities and facilities. Furthermore, the Institute serves as a travel industry resource to health conscious travelers by providing detailed information about the programs, services, amenities and facilities comprising the Healthy Guest Experience™ at IHDA member destinations. For Healthy Travelers: We screen hotels and resorts around the world for their health & wellness-focused efforts and options and then put their detailed information into our directory so you can find the perfect Healthy Destination for your needs. We have also created a community space for you to network and share your healthy travel experiences, ideas and thoughts with other healthy travelers. For Healthy Destinations: IHDA has the only health & wellness certification process specific to the hospitality industry. Our Approved Healthy Destinations enjoy consumer recognition as leaders in healthy hospitality. For Healthy Suppliers: Products and services offered by IHDA Affiliate members are reviewed for quality and reliability by IHDA’s panel of health scientists, wellness experts and health-focused consumers.
