About Institute for Palestine Studies
The Institute for Palestine Studies, established in 1963, is an independent nonprofit research institution devoted to the study of Palestine and the Arab-Israeli conflict. Its publications, meticulously researched and sourced, are widely respected and extensively cited. There is hardly a serious work on the Palestine question whose references do not include the Institute’s publications. The Institute publishes the Journal of Palestine Studies in English and Arabic. Headquartered in Beirut, the Institute has branch offices in Washington, D.C., and Ramallah, Palestine. The Board of Trustees is comprised of leading Palestinian and Arab figures from North America and across the Middle East. As the first unaffiliated Arab institute ever founded, it has served as a model of independence in the region. The Institute's central library in Beirut is the largest in the Arab world, specializing in Palestinian affairs, the Arab-Israeli conflict, and Zionism. Its archives contain rare books; private papers; newspaper collections in Arabic, Hebrew, and English; and an extensive collection of photographs.
