The Institute was established in 1890, to help maintain standards and skills at a time when traditional skills were being lost. Over a century later, we’re still committed to upholding the highest standards of our historic craft and membership is now open to all craftspeople working in wood trades (e.g. carpenters, joiners, furniture makers and shop fitters).
