The Institute is the professional body for all members of the commercial shipping industry worldwide. Founded in 1911, the Institute was awarded a Royal Charter in 1920. We set and examine the syllabus for membership, providing the shipping industry with highly qualified professionals, and we are the only internationally recognised professional body in the commercial maritime arena representing shipbrokers, ship managers and agents throughout the world. We have 26 branches in key locations worldwide with 4,000 individual Members and Fellows.
