Welcome to the Institute of Mortgage Lending. We are the oldest designation conferring educational program available to mortgage professionals in all fields and at all levels in the mortgage industry. The Institute was founded in 1988 with the belief that our industry is improved only when its members are educated beyond the individual silos of their positions. Our new text, The Mortgage Professional’s Handbook, propels our mission well into the 21st century. We offer two levels of study leading to professional designation – Graduate of Mortgage Lending (GML) and Master of Mortgage Lending (MML). Graduate of Mortgage Lending (GML) is a self-directed course of study including a single text, The Mortgage Professional’s Handbook, Volume I. The text provides an in-depth focus on the various aspects of mortgage loan origination provided by recognized experts in each of the fields. Successful completion of the course and final examination lead to the GML professional designation. You may now join the ranks of GML designees who have proudly demonstrated their commitment to this industry since 1991. Master of Mortgage Lending (MML) builds on the knowledge gained through the pre-requisite GML coursework. The materials for this level of self-directed study are The Mortgage Professional’s Handbook, Volumes II & III, which provide much deeper insight into the connected world of the mortgage finance industry. Master of Mortgage Lending coursework is currently in preparation for availability in the second half of 2020.
