The Institute of the Americas is an independent, inter-American organization that for over 40 years has promoted cooperation between the public and private sectors to improve economic, political and social well-being across the Americas. Founded in 1983 as an impartial, non-profit organization the Institute has focused its efforts in five program areas: energy & sustainability, environment & climate change, economic competitiveness, community & border relations. The Institute hosts roundtables and professional workshops at its home on the campus of the University of California, San Diego, and throughout Latin America. The Institute prides itself on providing independent analysis to help shape policy on the most critical economic, political, and social issues across the Western Hemisphere.
