Intelligent Addressing is an information management specialist and data provider, focusing on land and property data, specifically addressing and spatial referencing. IA manage the national datasets for local government; National Land and Property Gazetteer (NLPG) and National Street Gazetteer (NSG) and help local government meet its objectives with these datasets. The company was set up in 1999 by its current Managing Director, Michael Nicholson. IA was formerly the operating division of Property Intelligence (PI). PI was launched in 1986 and became the UK’s leading provider of online commercial property information. Addresses are a key data search attribute and PI’s success was, in large part, as a result of its detailed understanding of property addressing in the UK and its ability to match and manage address updating. In 1999, PI took the decision to concentrate all its address management and gazetteering skill into one operating division and formed Intelligent Addressing. When PI was sold to the CoStar Corporation (USA) in January 2003, IA was de-merged and is now owned by Intelligent Addressing (Holdings) Ltd. Many of the original data specialists from PI are retained by IA, providing over 200 years experience of address management. IA undertakes all of its data management skills in-house.
