About InterActing

InterActing is een non-profit theaterschool voor jongeren met autisme. Ze leren via improvisatietheater om los te breken uit hun routines en rituelen. Zo bouwen ze aan hun zelfvertrouwen, zodat ze beter om kunnen gaan met onvoorspelbare situaties. Jonge mensen hebben te maken met een sociale wereld die snel verandert. Aanpassingsvermogen en snel kunnen schakelen zijn hierbij cruciale vaardigheden. Voor jongeren met autisme is dit moeilijk – zij willen namelijk structuur, herhaling, voorspelbaarheid. Via improvisatie oefeningen trainen we hun flexibiliteitspier en bovendien is InterActing ook nog eens een veilige ontmoetingsplek, waar de deelnemers vrienden kunnen maken. We geven workshops, cursussen van 14 weken en een zomerschool in de laatste week van de schoolvakantie. Onze lessen zijn in het Engels en Nederlands voor jongeren van 12 tot 22 jaar. -------------------------- InterActing is a theater school for young people with autism. We use improvisation to teach the participants to break from their rituals and routines. This increases their self confidence, so that they can deal more easily with unexpected situations. Young people face a social world that is changing rapidly. Being able to adapt and respond quickly are crucial skills. This is much more difficult for young people with autism as they want structure, repetition, and predictability. We train their flexibility muscles through improvisation exercises. Moreover, InterActing is a safe place to make friends! We offer workshops, 14 week courses and a summer school in the last week of the school holiday. Our classes are taught in Dutch and English for young people between 12 and 22 years old.
