About Interchange Recycling

Interchange Recycling (formerly the BC Used Oil Management Association) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the responsible collection and recycling of lubricating oil, oil filters, antifreeze, diesel exhaust fluid (DEF), and related automotive containers. With a proven program operating in British Columbia since 2003, in 2025, we expanded to Yukon, launching a new program to support compliance with the territory’s Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Regulation and helping establish a sustainable, accessible collection network. Interchange is a collaboration of manufacturers and first sellers committed to keeping these potentially hazardous materials out of the environment. Our programs provide residents with an eco-friendly and cost-effective way to return and recycle used automotive products. Each year, our B.C. program helps recover approximately 50 million litres of oil and 3 million litres of antifreeze, ensuring they are safely managed and repurposed. At Interchange Recycling, we believe that strong environmental stewardship should also deliver practical, economic value—for producers, communities, and future generations.
