About Interfaith Photovoice

Interfaith Photovoice is an art-based approach to interfaith understanding. We invite people of different religious and spiritual backgrounds to reflect and respond to a series of questions related to their beliefs, practices, and values in everyday life with their own photographs. These photos are used in a series of meetings as the basis for small and large group facilitated discussions. Our goal is to build understanding and empathy, strengthen relationships and trust, cultivate a shared sense of purpose among participants, raise awareness, and instigate change in their communities and organizations. Our projects typically culminate in a public art exhibition, during which participants can engage in conversations with community members, stakeholders, local leaders, the general public, and the press. In this way participants have an opportunity to have a voice in their local community through their photographs.
