About International Newcastle
International Newcastle is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company leading on ‘Our Newcastle Our World’, our international cultural relations plan. It outlines our ambitions and how we will work together to maximise international links, connections and opportunities for the people, organisations and networks in the City and promote intercultural awareness, tolerance and respect across our City. Our role is to facilitate partnerships, collaborations and connections to international experiences and opportunities. We are building on the extraordinary wealth of international experience, knowledge and understanding in our city today, including: the people and communities that make our city their home; businesses that trade internationally; our multi-sectoral connections with other cities and regions around the world. We are an open and welcoming city with global connections and International Newcastle works with the City Council, education and cultural sectors, business sector, consular colleagues, civil society organisations, regional and national agencies and international partners to grow our global reputation and offer a warm welcome to the world. Our Newcastle Our World priority 2020-2022 is ‘Newcastle as an international city for our children and young people (0-30) to be active and confident global citizens’ with actions on three strands: Connecting Internationally, Newcastle City of Languages and Internationalism in the City. As a member of British Council’s Internationalism Alliance, we seek to promote international and intercultural experiences, opportunities and connections for young people of all ages. We are also working as part of a North East international delegations group to promote the city internationally and layer our links to build deeper relationships across the world, as well as to share communications tools to provide a welcome to the city for those who wish to visit, study, invest, work or live here.
